I've been reaching for my solid white canvas Tretorns so much, I thought I'd buy another pair in navy. The prices on Amazon are fantastic. Done deal. I'm not sure what the material is supposed to be -- I thought it would be a canvas upper with leather accent, but it feels and looks like suede. On my order ipage it says leather. Looking deeper at the item description, it says the upper are made from "100% engineered materials". That wouldn't suggest real suede or leather to me. So I don't know what I have exactly, and even though I can't wash them in the machine, I love them. This new navy pair is a bit longer and wider than my other 8 1/2 in the white canvas, but those fit me very snugly anyway. So this could be right where it should be. I love the retro style; I finally have the same expensive tennis shoes that all the rich girls had in high school, the ones who were actually on the tennis team, lol. I love the shape. It's more feminine than other casual sneakers like Keds Jump Kick or any Converse. I recently tried some Vans Wards, and the sole was very heavy and stiff. I might have to revisit Vans someday. I feel like the Tretorn design bridges the gap between something like a frumpy Keds Champion and boyish Chuck Taylors. They have the athletic vibe but can be worn with almost any casual outfit, and the logo doesn't scream at you like Adidas. Yay for Tretorn Nylites!
